spots that serve Beer in the Willamette Valley

Root & Rye brewery in the Willamette Valley

Root & Rye

Carlton

Formerly the Crowing Hen, this is the sweetest little brewery tucked into the farmlands east of Carlton. It’s very family-friendly with plenty of room for kiddos to play while you enjoy a beer, and they have a delicious cheese and charcuterie plate. A fun detour if you’re tasting in the Carlton area and want a beer break.

Heater Allen brewing in McMinnville Oregon

Heater Allen Brewing

McMinnville

Focused on German and Czech-style lagers, with a straightforward taproom in McMinnville’s Granary District that’s easy to pair with dinner plans. One of Oregon’s only all-lager breweries, small and no-frills but the beer is excellent. A favorite among craft beer lovers who appreciate traditional styles done right.

The Horseradish restaurant in Carlton, Willamette Valley

The Horseradish

Carlton

Crave-worthy sandwiches and comfort food is what they’re known for! My favorite sandwiches in the valley. The menu is hearty and satisfying, and the vibe is casual with indoor and outdoor seating. A great lunch stop when you’re tasting in the Carlton area.

Wooden Heart Kitchen restaurant in Dundee, OR

Wooden Heart Kitchen

Dundee

We’ve been enjoying Wooden Heart pizza and other wood-fired goodness from their food truck for years, so I was beyond excited about the opening of their new brick & mortar restaurant in Dundee! … [read more]

The Newbergundian

The Newbergundian

Newberg

Delicious French-inspired options at approachable prices with warm, efficient and friendly hospitality. The wine by the glass list has lots of fun options at equally fun prices, so you can try a few new things. Our go-tos: … [read more]

Barley & Vine Tavern

Newberg

One of our fave casual spots in downtown Newberg with a nice selection of craft beer pours, affordable wines by the glass and bottle, and bar bites (think nachos, soft pretzels and crostini). It’s a local and industry hang, too, so a great opportunity to experience more of this great community.

The Bitter Monk, a beer bar in McMinnville OR

The Bitter Monk

McMinnville

Probably the best beer bar we’ve been to, anywhere. It’s a locals hangout but very friendly to visitors, too, with a great staff (say hi to Becky for us!), always a couple of cider options, and great people watching. No food served, but you’re welcome to bring your own in from… [read more]

Red Hills Market

Dundee

This is the place you will wish you had one of back home. Casual, delicious breakfast and lunches with the wine country farm feel that we love most about this area. Also a great spot to grab provisions for a winery lunch: local cheeses, charcuterie, breads, desserts, wine, cider and beer.
