Slow Food & Wine Travel
Luxury travel planning for food and wine lovers,
with curated itineraries in places worth slowing down for.
Some of the most meaningful travel experiences happen when you slow down: sit with a glass of wine, linger over a local meal, and get to know a place through the people who live and work there. Slow travel is a philosophy built around that idea. It’s all about experiencing the rhythm of daily life and supporting local producers; engaging with a region in a way that feels personal and connected.
Slow food and wine travel is about experiencing a region through its local food and wine culture, with time built in to actually enjoy it.
This is the viewpoint I bring to every trip I plan. For years, I’ve helped guests and clients experience Oregon’s Willamette Valley through food and wine, and I’ve since expanded to wine regions, coastal towns, and food-rich destinations around the world.
Travel Services I Provide
When you work with me, I take care of the pieces that make a trip feel smooth: lodging selection and booking, a well-paced itinerary, and key reservations like wineries, restaurants, and experiences. I’ll also help with logistics like drivers and transfers when it makes sense for the destination.
Planning Trips With Me

I work with travelers who want more than a standard tour – people who care about where their food comes from and value thoughtful recommendations over trend lists. Each trip is different, but you can expect:
- Well-paced itineraries with the right balance of structure and spontaneity
- Distinctive accommodations – from boutique inns to refined hotels – chosen for quality, location, and design
- Curated visits to wineries, restaurants, and producers with a strong sense of place
- Personal guidance shaped by firsthand experience in each destination
- Access to local culture through food, wine, and the people who make them
“Laura is such a thoughtful and detail-oriented agent! She gave us a few options, but hearing what she loved about the Stephanie Inn drew us in. I especially appreciate her teaching us all about the tides nearby and the bike trails! We had such an adventure! Thank you Laura!”

Food and Wine Travel Regions
I plan food and wine travel to destinations all over the world, from well-known wine regions to up-and-coming areas where the food scene is just getting started. Oregon is home base and the region I know most deeply, but I’ve personally traveled to over 22 wine regions across four continents, and I bring that same firsthand approach to every trip I plan.

Oregon & the Pacific Northwest
From wine tasting in the Willamette Valley to coastal escapes, mountain towns, and urban foodie stays, I plan trips across Oregon and the broader Pacific Northwest with a strong focus on food, wine, and a sense of place.
Flying into Portland for a few days? Mapping out a longer route that includes the Columbia Gorge, the Coast, or extends into Washington or Northern California wine country? I’ll help you make the most of your time here. I coordinate lodging, winery appointments, dining, scenic routes, and local experiences, all personally vetted and tailored to your interests.

Food & Wine Destinations Worldwide
I’ve traveled extensively through wine regions in Europe, the Pacific Northwest, California, and beyond, and I’m always adding new destinations. Recent trips and active planning regions include Portugal’s Douro Valley and Alentejo, Southern England’s sparkling wine country, France, Spain, Italy, Austria and New Zealand.
Every destination gets the same treatment: personally vetted lodging, curated dining, winery visits and local experiences, and an itinerary paced for actually enjoying where you are. I’m not pulling from a database. If I’m recommending a place, I’ve either been there myself or done serious groundwork with trusted local contacts to make sure it meets the bar.
Have a destination in mind that’s not listed here? If it has great food and wine, I want to hear about it.

Food & Wine Trip Planning Services
Every itinerary I plan is built around where you’re going, how you like to travel, and the kind of experiences you want to have. Have a few ideas? Don’t even know where you want to go? No worries! I’ll help shape the trip and handle the details.
For food and wine-focused travel, this often includes:
Transportation logistics, day-by-day outlines, and private drivers or guides
Personalized wine tasting appointments and vineyard visits
Restaurant reservations and local food experiences, like cooking classes or market tours
Lodging recommendations based on your style: boutique, luxury, or something in between
Pricing
Custom travel planning starts at $85/day, with pricing based on the complexity and length of the trip.
Looking something a little less intensive? My Trip Highlights offering is an overview of the trip with a personalized, vetted list of lodging, activity and dining suggestions for each location, starting at $250/week. This isn’t a day-by-day, timed itinerary, but provides in-depth knowledge and targeted suggestions for your journey.
I can also provide help with lodging only as a complimentary service – I’ll get to know your preferences, provide in-the-know suggestions for where to stay, complete your bookings for you and apply the special VIP perks that take your trip to the next level.
Why you should work with me
Entirely Personalized & Vetted
The regions I focus on are places I’ve visited myself (more than once), so the suggestions I make are based on experience, not pulled from a list. If I’m recommending a winery or hotel, it’s because I believe it’s worth your time. And I’m not easy to impress.
You won’t receive a pre-set itinerary or handoff to a booking engine. This is one-on-one travel planning, with the support of an advisor who knows the region and cares about how your trip feels from start to finish.
Details, details, details
I’m fanatical about details and truly enjoy learning about my clients and their preferences. I’ll put the time in and personalize every inch of your journey.
Travel like a VIP
As part of Fora’s network, I’m able to offer killer perks – think room upgrades, credits, free breakfast, welcome gifts – on any partner bookings. I’m also able to lean on my colleagues for their advice and personal experiences, filling any gaps I may have. Win-win.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only plan food and wine-focused travel?
Food and wine are my soulmates, but every itinerary is shaped around your interests. That might include a mix of wine tasting, food experiences, nature, wellness, design, or just time to slow down and enjoy where you are.

What wine regions have you traveled to?
I’ve been to over 22 wine regions across four continents, and I’m always adding to the list. I know Oregon’s Willamette Valley most deeply, and I’ve spent a lot of time in Portugal’s Douro Valley and Alentejo, Southern England’s sparkling wine country, and parts of France, Spain, Italy, Austria, and New Zealand. That firsthand experience is what shapes every itinerary I build.
Can you help with other international or US-based travel destinations?
Yes! I plan custom travel around the world. If your travel goals align with my approach, I’m happy to help.
How do I plan a food and wine trip?
Start by thinking about what excites you: a specific wine region, a type of cuisine, a season, or just a general vibe. From there, I help narrow it down and handle the details. I’ll recommend destinations based on your interests, build a day-by-day itinerary, book your lodging, and set up winery visits, restaurant reservations, and local food experiences. You bring the curiosity; I bring the plan.
What is a food and wine travel advisor?
A food and wine travel advisor specializes in planning trips centered around regional food and wine. That means I’m not just booking hotels: I’m choosing the right wineries for your palate, finding restaurants that utilize local ingredients, and pacing the itinerary so you’re not rushing through. I work as an independent advisor with Fora, which gives me access to hotel perks, industry relationships, and a network of fellow advisors when a trip calls for it.
What is slow food and wine travel?
Slow food and wine travel is a way of experiencing a destination through its regional food, local wine, and the people behind them. Instead of packing in as many stops as possible, the focus is on fewer, better experiences: a long lunch at a farmhouse restaurant, a private tasting with a winemaker, a morning at a local market. It’s travel built around seasonality, local producers, and actually having time to enjoy where you are. That philosophy shapes every itinerary I plan, customized to your preferred pace.
Do you book flights?
Yes, I can assist with First class domestic flights, and premium, business or first class international flights. I can also book any fare class for group trips (more than 8 passengers) to both domestic and international destinations.

What does your pricing include?
Pricing for my Itinerary Planning covers all research, custom day-by-day itinerary creation, booking support for hotels and ongoing communication leading up to your trip. If you book your lodging with me, I will also handle your restaurant and activity reservations. Costs start at $85/day and depends on the length and complexity of the itinerary, as well as the number of travelers.
Pricing for my Highlights offering includes a higher-level overview of the trip with a personalized, vetted list of activity and dining suggestions for each location, starting at $250/week.
I can also provide help with Lodging Only as a complimentary service if you book with me, as hotels provide commissions for our services.
Can you help with restaurant and wine tasting suggestions and reservations?
Yes! These are often at the core of the trips I plan. I’ll recommend vetted options that fit your taste and schedule, with a focus on those that feel genuine and local. If I’ve made your hotel reservations, I’ll also handle your dining bookings wherever possible.
